“I appreciate this hotel's independent spirit and quirky decor, a refreshing change from typical chain establishments. Its location offers a quiet base still within reasonable reach of Edinburgh's attractions. While some may find the building's age showing, its reasonable pricing and welcoming atmosphere, including being pet-friendly, make it a solid option.”

classical building easy walk
The building felt very classical and elegant. It seemed like an art gallery. The location was close to the city center with groceries nearby! Restaurants were within a ten-minute walk. The location offered a beautiful downtown setting, and the staff was helpful. Coffee and pastry were available in the morning. the front desk offered 24/7 assistance. I felt at ease with the daily housekeeping service. The room had super tall ceilings, I found it wonderful! The train and tram stops were very close, maybe a two-minute walk. It was an easy walk to the Castle area..
The hotel was already expensive. Plus it was during a busy event. So, I paid a lot for a small room, though it had a tiny bathroom.

Acceptable stay, some issues noticed

convenient location light snacks early luggage drop dated room damp smell unfixed tap
The location was very convenient. It was easy to get around the area. Light snacks and beverages were available in the morning, I found that nice. The hotel let me drop off my bag early. That helped.
The place is dated. I noticed rooms full of old broken furniture. It smelled of damp. The carpets were threadbare in places. In the bathroom, the tap was not fixed to the sink. The shower kept falling out of its holder.
